Police investigate teen’s death as murder

UPDATE: Investigators have identified both subjects involved in the shooting, 17-year-old Edgar Adan Villegas-Torres and 17-year-old Bryan Alexander Ibarra.  Ibarra was located and arrested today, Dec. 11, but Villegas-Torres is still at-large. Garland police detectives are asking for the public’s health to locate Edgar Adan Villegas-Torres. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4844.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Garland Crime Stoppers – 972-272-8477 (TIPS) or www.garlandcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered by Garland Crimes Stoppers for information leading to an arrest or grand jury indictment.

 

Ibarra is currently in the Garland Detention Center and charged with Murder.  No bond has been set.


On Monday, Dec. 9, just after 5:30 pm, Garland police officers responded to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas regarding a gunshot wound call. When they arrived at the hospital, officers were told that the male who was shot had died from his injuries.

 

The death is being investigated as a murder.

 

Detectives believe the victim went to a parking lot in the 3600 block of South First Street to meet a subject. During the encounter, the victim was shot and was taken to the hospital by a witness.

 

The victim is identified as 17-year-old Christopher Cardoza, a resident of Dallas.

 

This is an active investigation and investigators are following up on leads.
