Saturday, Aug. 21, at approximately 7 p.m., Garland police officers responded to an assault call in the 5200 block of Stagecoach Lane. The caller stated that someone was assaulted in front of a house on the street.
When police officers arrived they found a male victim, identified as 26-year-old Dominique Jones. The man was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Jones was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives are investigating the death as a murder. Officers learned that the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Kyhari Clines, was inside a house near where the assault took place. After many hours of attempting to get Clines to come outside, he voluntarily surrendered and was arrested. A gun was recovered.
Clines is currently in the Garland Detention Center and is charged with the murder of Jones. No bond has been set.
At this time, it is unclear what led to the assault and shooting. This remains an active investigation.
