Some of Garland ISD’s youngest learners are discovering the impact of paying it forward. Students, staff and parents at Parsons Prekindergarten School joined forces to form the Positive Actions at Work (PAW) Club, a group devoted to philanthropic efforts.
“At Parsons Pre-K, academics is not the only thing being taught,” said Campus Technology Assistant Brittainy Qualls. “Teaching our students about the importance of giving back and being kind can never begin too early.”
PAW Club members support the campus by assisting during arrival duties, also known as Paw Patrol, in addition to organizing charitable activities. The group recently spearheaded a campaign to serve local seniors.
“They held a schoolwide sock drive and asked students and families to decorate hearts for Valentine’s gifts, which were then delivered to residents at a local nursing home,” Qualls explained. “PAW Club members passed out gifts, sang songs and gave lots of hugs. The residents and students had a great time and made new friendships.”
The memorable experience inspired the Pandas to continue spreading goodwill.
“The PAW Club plans to visit a local fire station in March, as well as host a community cleanup day in April,” Qualls revealed. “We are very proud of our PAW Club members for all they have done this year to make our community and school a better place.”
