Sachse High School is thrilled to announce that the Sachse Mustang Band Wind Ensemble has been recognized as a National Winner in the prestigious 2023 Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Competition. This accolade comes after years of dedication, with the ensemble being named a Commended Winner in 2021 and 2022.
About the Mark of Excellence Project
The Mark of Excellence project is a national initiative that aims to recognize and award outstanding achievements in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs, and orchestras. With entries gathered from across the United States, the project provides invaluable feedback to all participating ensembles. It creates a unique competitive environment that allows groups to compare their performance quality with other outstanding ensembles nationwide.
The Recognition
The competition identifies the top 25% of entrants as National Winners, while the next 25% are named Commended Winners. All entrants receive a compilation recording of the winning performances, and winners are acknowledged in regional and national publications and at national and regional conventions.
