Mayor Douglas Athas has proclaimed Thursday, May 5, as National Day of Prayer in Garland. Members of the community are invited to gather at 11:30 a.m. at the Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 North Fifth Street in downtown Garland. This year marks the city of Garland’s 15th consecutive observation of this event. This gathering continues the tradition of prayer that was begun in 1774 at the Continental Congress.
The theme for the 2016 NDP observance is ‘Wake Up Garland’ to emphasize the need for individuals, corporately and individually to return to the God of Fathers.
We pray for Israel, our nation, our military, police, fire and EMS, schools, businesses, government, families, the homeless and refugees. Some may not be able to come but the organizaers covet your prayers personally and for the planning of this important day of prayer.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. to provide ample time for the attendees to browse the displays and enjoy the music of associate pastor and worship leader David Galligan of New Life Fellowship in Garland. At 11:30 a.m. participants will assemble for united prayers
Interpreters for the hearing impaired will be present.
This is a city event, a nationally recognized day to come together and AGREE … A TIME TO UNITE AS ONE…WE NEED YOU…WE NEED EACH OTHER! .Please schedule this important assembly and save the date on your calendar.
