Two Sachse High School girls’ track and field athletes made a great showing at the state track and field competition held May 12-14. The state meet was held at the University of Texas at Austin’s Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Shot putter Favor Anyanwu won the gold medal in her event with a throw of 45-1.50 which was a new personal record.
The accomplished student athlete is a member of the class of 2024. In addition to track and field, she excels on the Sachse High School girls’ varsity volleyball team and plays club volleyball.
Kennedy Swann also competed in the state meet and finished seventh in the 100m dash. Swan, who graduates from SHS this year, also played on the varsity girls’ basketball team.
These two competitors are the first females at Sachse High School to get to the state championship level in track and field.
