Tyler Lacy, a Sachse High School and Oklahoma State University football standout, was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft. He signed with Oklahoma State during his junior year in high school.

SHS Head Football Coach Mark “Red” Behrens said that he is always excited to see any of the SHS athletes do well in any endeavor.

“But, to be drafted into the NFL is always a special event for the Mustangs’ football program,” he said.

Behrens added that Lacy always had the passion necessary to be an outstanding football player and was a leader on and off the field. In addition, the defensive end received several honors as a Mustang which included earning All-District 10-6A honors as a senior.

Lacy redshirted as a freshman at Oklahoma State then started 10 games in 2019. He had 20 tackles, a sack and two pass breakups that year. As a starter in 2020, he received honorable mention all-conference honors with 32 tackles and eight tackles for loss. He also had four sacks and five QB hurries.

In 2021, Lacy had 34 tackles, 11 for loss, 3.5 sacks and eight hurries. He was also named to the First Team All-Academic Squad. Lacy was injured in 2022, his senior year, but finished with 17 tackles, five QB hits and three sacks.

In total, Lacy collected 113 tackles, 30 for loss and 11.5 sacks in 44 games at OSU. He also earned OSU’s Defensive MVP honors and served as game captain for several games.

The Sachse Mustang football coaching staff is excited to have five athletes from the SHS football program in the National Football League and one in the XFL.

Behrens is happy for Lacy and said that he earned everything he has received.

“The future is bright for him,” Behrens said.
