Special Ones enjoy Christmas party

Dec. 6, 2016

The Special Ones Network hosted its ninth Christmas party for special needs individuals Sunday, Dec. 4 and according to the organization’s founders, Kristal and Dean Davis, it was the biggest event they’ve hosted to date. The Special Ones Network also hosts an annual Easter egg hunt and swim party for special needs people and their families.

A large crowd of special needs adults and children, along with their families, gathered at the Hella Shrine Temple to celebrate Christmas. Everyone enjoyed lunch and dessert, as well as photos and visits with Santa. Some of the Rowlett High School Silver Rhythm Dancers drill team members came to the event to help and had a great time dancing with party-goers.There was also music, games and crafts as well as visits with police officers and firefighters. The ‘ghostbusters’ brought their vehicles and took photos with the kids as well.

Kristal and Dean work tirelessly to host these events because of Evan, their special needs son. They understand the need for special needs adults and children, along with their families, to get out for a stress free afternoon and simply have fun. Much of their time is spent going to appointments with doctors and therapists so a party is a welcome activity. The couple knows that this is what God wants them to do and they are fortunate to have family members, church family, friends and volunteers to help plan and provide these events each year.

About Special Ones Network: The goal of the organization is to host events for all types of special needs individuals and their families. Living with an autistic child ourselves, we know activities are practically non-existent for these special ones. Our desire is to change this, one event at a time! The Special Ones Network is a 501c3 organization, made up of all volunteers. One hundred percent of all donations go toward the group’s events. No salaries are paid to organizers.
