State of the City 2024: Visit with city departments

Feb. 4, 2024

The city of Garland invites all residents to attend our 2024 State of the City event Tuesday, Feb. 13, at The Atrium, 300 North Fifth Street. This free event is your guide to Garland and your chance to talk with city departments and staff!

Come out to talk with us, enjoy a performance by the Austin Academy Jazz Band and be entered to win a flower bouquet giveaway just in time for Valentine’s Day! There will also be a presentation from Mayor Scott LeMay on the city’s plans for the year ahead, including news about a July 3 celebration.

We’ll kick off the event at 6 p.m. with an open house where you can visit interactive booths for city departments. Talk with staff about projects and services and ask any questions you may have.

From 7 to 7:30 p.m., Mayor Scott LeMay will deliver his State of the City address, updating residents on the achievements and accomplishments of last year, including 2019 bond program projects, public safety and more. He will also talk about what’s in store for 2024. To end the address, the mayor will present his annual Make Your Mark award honoring an individual or organization making a positive difference in Garland.

After the ceremony, attendees can continue to enjoy the open house until 8 p.m. This is a great opportunity to follow up on questions and provide feedback about Garland’s plans.
