Virtual superhero teaches positive traits

Jun. 10, 2020

Garland native Jolene Mullins has a passion for helping children learn about things such as kindness, compassion and empathy. To achieve that goal, she created a virtual superhero called Virtuleze, and she hopes that the character will teach kids to “think with their heart.”

Virtuleze, a superhero from a star, is at the center of a video series created by Mullins. Viewers will also get to know the superhero’s group of cosmic friends. Intended for kids ages 2-6, the videos provide an opportunity for them to learn while having fun.

Mullins, along with her husband Andy, created the series, called “Virt and Me,” that teach children that it’s important to be smart, but that it’s also important to be nice, obey the law, be honest, say please and thank you, do good deeds and more.

“I created Virtuleze with the hope of helping to raise a generation that would make the world a better place to live and accept all people because we all have a heart,” Mullins said.

These traits are and have always been, valuable, but with the current unrest in our society, it’s especially vital to spread the message of kindness, serving others and making a positive impact in the community. There couldn’t be a better time for kids to learn and focus on these traits.

As a certified elementary education and special education teacher, Mullins explained that she feels called to help empower children with virtue and values.

The entire project, which includes shooting the videos, editing, doing the voices, illustrations, graphics, maintaining a social media presence and more, is self-funded. Contact information is below for anyone who would like to help Mullins and her husband reach more children with these positive messages.

New Videos are uploaded every other Saturday. The next will be posted June 20.
