The Garland Police Department is investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old Garland resident.
On July 5, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Garland police officers responded to an apartment community in the 1700 block of Apollo Road. When the officers arrived, they located the 18-year-old victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
The investigation revealed that the victim was shot by her 16-year-old female friend, while using a cellphone to livestream her friend who was displaying two handguns. One gun discharged, striking the victim. A copy of the video was obtained by detectives.
On July 7 the female victim, identified as 18-year-old Princess Omobogie, died from her injuries. As a result of the investigation, the 16-year-old female was taken into custody and is being charged with Manslaughter.
The juvenile was transported to the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center.
Due to the offender being a juvenile her identity is not being released.
The investigation is ongoing.
