Texans Can Academies helps with students’ wellbeing

Aug. 23, 2019

Texans Can Academies strives to educate their students in all aspects and ensure the wellbeing of their students on and off campus. In doing so, many different programs are put in place at each campus. Texans Can Academies covers the fees of these services freeing the students of any financial responsibilities.

  • 24/7 counseling services are available for students at all 14 campuses in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Students can call a telephone number 24-hours, seven days a week, year-round for emergencies or to schedule off-campus counseling appointments to help them with any issues they may be having. Texans Can Academies covers the cost of the services making it possible for their students to receive completely confidential, complimentary crisis intervention help.  According to the Suicide & Crisis Center of North Texas, suicide is the third leading cause of death of young people between the ages of 15 and 24. With World Suicide Prevention Day coming up on September 10th, it is important to reinforce the services available to students.
    • Immunizations, flu shots, and health screenings are provided free of cost to enrolled students at Texans Can Academies’ campuses in the fall and spring to ensure they have received the medical treatment they need for the school year.
    • Free eye exams and prescription glasses are provided to the students that need them. This necessary and essential tool gives students who were identified to need glasses the help they need to learn efficiently in the classroom.
    • Breakfast and lunch are provided to the students every day.

Texans Can Academies is a unique network of 14 charter schools located in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The Schools are tuition-free, open enrollment, public high schools of choice serving students who have struggled in a high school setting.
