Three children injured in vehicle fire

Mar. 31, 2019

On March 30, just before 6 p.m., the Garland Police and Fire Departments responded to the 2900 block of South First Street regarding a vehicle fire in the parking lot of a business center. When paramedics arrived, they began treating three children.

Officers learned that an adult male had driven to the location with his three children, parked the car and left the children unattended inside the vehicle while he entered a store. The vehicle caught on fire while the male was inside the store.

The three children, ages 4, 3 and 1, were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Detectives are working with the fire department to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is early and ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
