Tiger cub rescued at border finds home in Wylie

Jul. 26, 2018

A tiger cub found by border patrol agents April 30 is finally coming to his forever home this week. The male cub was being smuggled across the border in a black duffel bag by three men, most likely with the intent of selling him to the highest bidder. When they caught wind of border patrol agents in nearby Brownsville, they abandoned the duffel bag with its precious cargo and crossed the border back into Mexico. The tiger cub was found by agents and transported to Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville to stabilize him and provide him a temporary home.

In-Sync Exotics in Wylie is proud to be able to provide the cub, now named Kenobi, a permanent home. Here he will have access to the very best in nutrition, veterinary care, enrichment and friends.

As you may remember, earlier this year, a white tiger cub was born at In-Sync Exotics to recently rescued white tigers Assad and Zahra. The cub, named Kylo Ren, had to be hand-raised after Zahra failed to exhibit the necessary instincts to care for the cub on her own.

As Kenobi has served his mandatory quarantine period at the zoo, the two cubs will be introduced shortly after Kenobi’s arrival. Having another cub to play, interact, learn and nap with stimulates healthy growth and development, just as it would in the wild.
