The Garland community is known for its compassion and its ability to come together to help others. This holiday season, there are many children that will not have a toy under the tree on Christmas morning. Let’s do what Garland residents always do – rally together to donate toys for children who otherwise might not get any gifts. Please donate through the charitable organization of your choice. A few suggestions are at the end of this article.
There are so many reasons for giving:
- Nothing lights up the holiday spirit like doing things for other people.
- Giving back is simply the right thing to do.
- As the prices of food, gas and other necessities rise, families are less likely to have money for gifts.
- You’ll relieve some of the stress on parents who cannot afford to buy gifts for their children.
- If you involve your children, they will see that there are kids less fortunate than them, and they learn about gratitude.
- Things children learn through giving, like kindness, generosity and empathy, are values that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
- Toys play an important part in the healthy development of children, especially younger ones.
- Many children dread the holidays because they know that their experience will not be like the experiences of other families.
- Getting toys makes less fortunate children feel like the other kids instead of feeling different.
- You create a lasting, positive memory for a child by letting them know that someone they don’t even know cares about them.
- It’s easy and doesn’t require much time. Buy a toy and take it to a drop off point.
- Many charitable organizations commit to providing toys for a set number of children. You’ll be helping those organizations meet their goals.
- You could inspire friends and family to donate. You can even organize a drive on your own and deliver the donations as a group.
- It might sound selfish but giving back makes you feel good.
- Numerous studies show that giving back is good for your health.
Regardless of the reason, giving back has a positive impact on everyone involved.
