Two suspects in custody for store clerk murder

On May 22, at approximately 11:30 p.m., The Garland Police Department responded to a robbery at a convenience store in the 4400 block of West Walnut. When officers arrived they found a victim, later identified as 30-year-old Heng Lam, suffering from a gunshot wound. Garland Fire Department paramedics transported Lam to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

 

Investigators obtained security video showing two male subjects entering the store with handguns drawn demanding money from two clerks. During the robbery Lam was shot.

 

On Tuesday, June 11, detectives identified 18-year-old Luis Alejandro Espinoza as one of the suspects involved in the murder. He was arrested the morning of June 12, at a residence in the 10500 block of Ferguson Road in Dallas.

 

Wednesday, June 12, detectives identified 18-year-old Emmanuel Martinez as the second suspect involved and obtained an arrest warrant. Investigators arrested Martinez at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Edgefield Drive in Garland.

 

Both subjects are currently in the Garland jail and are charged with Capital Murder.

 

No bond has been set.

 

Detectives are not currently searching for any other suspects in conjunction to this murder investigation.
