Update: Arrests made in teen-involved shooting

The Garland Police Department has apprehended the two teenagers suspected in the shooting incident that occurred on Nov. 20 near Broadway Blvd. and Centerville Road in Garland.

On Nov. 21, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Mesquite police officers located the suspect vehicle, a white Nissan Sentra, traveling on US Highway 80 near Gus Thomasson Road. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver accelerated, initiating a brief pursuit.

The chase ended when the vehicle crashed on Interstate 30 near Jim Miller Road. Inside the vehicle were an unidentified driver and the two suspects involved in the Garland shooting: a 15-year-old Hispanic male juvenile and Anthony De Los Santos, a 17-year-old.

Both suspects were taken into custody, transported to the Garland Detention Center, and are facing the following charges:

  • 15-year-old Juvenile: Two counts of Deadly Conduct, Tampering with a Witness and Evading Arrest.
  • Anthony De Los Santos: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, two counts of Deadly Conduct, Tampering with a Witness and Evading Arrest.

­No bonds have been set.

GPD is grateful to the Mesquite Police Department for the assistance in locating and apprehending these suspects.

This remains an active investigation, and no further details are available at this time.


Garland police investigate teen-involved shooting

The Garland Police Department are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Nov. 20, shortly after 3 p.m., near the intersection of Broadway Blvd. and Centerville Road.

Initial investigations revealed that several individuals met at a restaurant on Broadway Blvd. near East Kingsley Road, where a physical altercation broke out. Following the altercation, two individuals left the scene in a vehicle, traveling through a shopping center parking lot toward East Centerville Road.

The other individuals involved pursued them, and while driving, a suspect began firing a gun. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
