Update – Aug. 28: Detectives have identified the deceased male as 56-year-old Genovevo Gonzalez. The Dallas County medical examiner’s investigation determined the significant injuries sustained by Gonzalez were consistent with a fall.
Detectives believe Gonzalez fell from the bridge overpass at Duck Creek Drive and East Oates Road. They are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fall and whether it was intentional or accidental. Garland Police Department encourage anyone who may have seen Gonzalez walking the area Aug. 24, around 1 p.m., to call the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840.
The investigation remains open.
Police investigate possible homicide – Aug. 24
Aug. 24, just before 1 p.m., Garland police officers were dispatched to the area of Duck Creek Drive and East Oates Road in reference to a male passed out under a bridge. Officers arrived on scene and determined that the male was deceased with injuries indicating foul play. Detectives are working this as an active homicide investigation. The identity and cause of death have not yet been determined.
