Man arrested after vehicle chase

Dec. 4, 2018

Tuesday, Dec. 4, shortly before 10:30 a.m., a Garland motorcycle officer was stopped at a red light on northbound Broadway Boulevard at Rowlett Road. A silver passenger vehicle was also stopped when the driver of the vehicle accelerated and ran through the red light.

The Garland officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver did not stop. GPD officers were led in a pursuit that ended in a field behind a church located in the 1400 block of Highway I-30 in Mesquite.

The driver refused to exit the vehicle and made threats that he had a gun. Officers were made aware that the subject had a felony warrant for parole violation. Garland SWAT negotiators were called and began speaking with the driver. The driver eventually surrendered and was arrested without further incident.

The driver is identified as 29-year-old Vincenzo Esteban Flores. He is charged with Evading Arrest and a Felony Warrant for Parole Violation.  Officers did not locate a gun.
