Garland is known for its strong sense of community, which always comes through during difficult times. The city of Garland’s library staff, in partnership with local churches, businesses, nonprofits and other volunteers have been distributing bottled water since Friday.
If you need bottled water, the drive-thru at Central Library, 625 Austin Street., will be open Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
As of Tuesday, almost 74,000 bottles have been distributed, both at the Library and delivered water to Garland apartment complexes that continue to be without water service due to winter storm damage. Many thanks to the Mayor, City Council members and countless volunteers who are pitching in to assist area residents with recovery efforts.
Immense gratitude to donors: Salvation Army, Trusted World, Coca-Cola, Dallas County Health and Human Services, GLOWS, HTeaO, Intrinsic, Lowe’s, Mesquite Service Center, Plastipac, Texas Division of Emergency Management, Walmart and the Department of State Health and Human Services (DSHHS), as well as all the individuals and anonymous donors who dropped off their gifts at the library, at Intrinsic and at Rosalind Coffee.
To receive water, go to the Central Library, 625 Austin Street. A drive-thru pickup area is in the west parking lot.
To donate water, go to Intrinsic Smokehouse Brewery – 509 West State Street or Rosalind Coffee – 107 North Sixth Street
We hope our generous community can help a little more. Many of our neighbors are still struggling to restore water to apartments and homes. If you’d like to coordinate a larger donation, call 972-205-2543.
