Week 10 of the Garland ISD high school football season ended in wins for the Sachse Mustangs, Lakeview Centennial Patriots and Naaman Forest Rangers.

 

Sachse gets 41-20 win over South Garland

 

The Sachse High School (7-2, 5-1) defeated the South Garland High School (1-8, 0-6) by a score of 41-20 Thursday, Oct. 31 at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.  The Mustangs scored three times in the first half and three in the second half. In the first, Shon Coleman scored on a 7-yard run and Brian Okoye also scored on an 80-yard run. Jay Fair added another TD on a 7-yard pass reception from quarterback Parker Wells. Coleman and Okoye scored again in the second half on 18- and 4-yard runs. Xavier Forman added another TD on a 27-yard run.

Okoye carried the ball eight times for 122 yards. Coleman had eight carries for 99 yards. The Sachse coaches’ pick for Offensive MVP was Brian Okoye. Their pick for Defensive MVP was Scotty Jesmer with six solo tackles, four assists, a sack and a forced fumble. On special teams, Alex Diaz was recognized for 100 percent success on PATs and James Boyd for recovering an onside kick.

 

The Colonels got a score in the second quarter on a 5-yard pass from QB Jalil Brown to Ty Key. Brandon Wyatt scored for the Colonels in the third quarter on a 2-yard run and Deontae Pruitt got a TD on a 60-yard pass from Brown in the fourth quarter.

 

Brown was 5-13 for 82 yards and ran for 175 yards.

 

Wylie HS defeats North Garland Raiders

 

Wylie High School (5-4, 5-1) defeated North Garland High School (5-4, 2-4) Thursday, Oct. 31 at Williams Stadium. The score was 38-28. Alex Garcia scored in the first quarter for the Raiders on a 25-yard interception return. In the second quarter, Sabron Woods got a TD on a 4-yard rush and Duke Parker scored on a 23-yard pass from QB Timothy Gauthier. Alex Garcia caught an 8-yard pass from Gauthier for a TD in the fourth quarter.

 

Gauthier was 10-30 on the game with 123 yards. Woods carried the ball 25 times for 138 yards.

 

Naaman Forest gets win over Garland

The Rangers (3-6, 3-3) defeated the Owls (3-6, 1-5) Friday, Nov. 1 Friday, Nov. 1 at Williams Stadium. The score was 36-21.Kingsley Bennett scored first for the Rangers on a 15-yard run. Aden Gonzalez also got a TD in the first quarter on a 74-yard pass reception from QB Devean Deal. Tristan Johnson also got a TD on an 18-yard blocked punt return for a score. In the third quarter, Bennett scored again on a 17-yard pass from Jayden Flores. Flores scored again in the fourth quarter on a 26-yard rush.

 

Flores was 11-22 on the game with 116 yards. Deal was 1-1 with 74 yards. Bennett carried the ball 14 times for 124 yards. Gonzalez had three catches for 88 yards.

 

Jordan Hudson scored twice for the Owls in the fourth quarter on two pass receptions from QB Cergio Perez. Ellis Rogers also caught a Perez pass for a TD in the further quarter.

 

Perez ended the game at 26-54 for 301 yards. Hudson had 10 catches for 130 yards.

 

LCHS gets win over RHS

 

Lakeview Centennial High School (6-3, 4-2) got a 39-13 win over Rowlett High School (4-5, 4-2) Friday, Nov. 1 at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The score was 39-13. Until this game, the Patriots had not defeated the Eagles in 15 years.

 

Camar Wheaton scored four times for the Patriots on 10-, 12-, 52- and 23-yard runs. Jalen Davis also got a TD on a 7-yard run and Jalen Davis scored on a 30-yard pass reception from QB Jarrett Adams.

 

Adams ended the game at 8-13 for 117 yards.  Wheaton collected 241 yards on 23 carries.

 

Tre Carr and Colton Yarborough scored for the Eagles on 4- and 2-yard runs. Carr ended the game at 14-22 with 144 yards.
