Three of Garland ISD’s schools remain undefeated after third week of high school football. Four schools win; three are defeated. District play starts next week.

 

Raiders get big win over Carrollton Newman Smith HS

 

The North Garland Raiders (3-0) got a 48-0 win against Carrollton Newman Smith High School at Williams Stadium Thursday, Sept. 13. Sabron Woods scored the first three NGHS touchdowns on 19-, 79- and 8-yard runs and collected 150 rushing yards on the ga

me. D’Rory Cozine also scored on a 3-yard run. The defense put 21 points on the board with a 64-yard fumble return and 7-yard interception return by Uzochukwu Ebinama and a 65-yard interception return by Nick Matthews.

Quarterback Peyton Farrington ended the night at 10-20 with 124 yards. The Raiders gained an impressive 432 total yards and 21 first downs.

 

SGHS defeats Molina HS

 

The South Garland Colonels (2-1) got a 69-0 win over Molina HS Thursday, Sept. 13 at Garland’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium. Jaquarion Turner broke the school record with seven TDs which came on 48-, 1-, 50-, 9-, 2-, 47- and 3-yard runs. Kevonta Wilson scored on a 6-yard run and Marcus Sanchez added a TD on a 1-yard run. Tajohn Livingston added a touchdown on a 42-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

 

Giovanni Serrano added a 32-yard field goal.

 

The Colonels gained 396 total yards while Molina HS gained 87 and had 16 first downs compared to Molina’s six.

 

Eagles defeat Plano HS

 

After a long weather delay, the Rowlett Eagles (2-0) got a 24-17 win over Plano High School Friday, Sept. 14 at Garland’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The first RHS score came in the second quarter on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Jerry Evans and Luis Reyna added a 34-yard field goal in the second. In the third quarter, Evans got another score on a 3-yard pass from quarterback Chase Toupal. And in the fourth, Toupal scored again on a 2-yard run.

 

Lakeview Centennial defeats Berkner HS

 

The Lakeview Centennial Patriots (2-0) had a 37-6 victory over Richardson Berkner HS Friday, Sept. 14 at Richardson’s Wildcat-Ram Stadium. Zikamein West scored twice for the Patriots, first on a 47-yard pass from QB Jarret Adams, then on special teams when he returned a kick-off 90 yards for a TD. Isaiah Haro also scored on a 51-yard pass from Adams. Jacori Tarver got a TD on a 24-yard fumble return early in the third quarter and a minute later Camar Wheaton scored again on a 23-yard run. Jason Sauceda hit a 34-yard field goal.

 

LCHS had 407 yards on the game, 226 in the air and 181 on the ground. Adams ended the night at 13-21 for 226 yards. Camar Wheaton gained 104 rushing yards. Haro caught the ball three times for 93 yards.

 

Naaman Forest HS loses to Northwest Eaton HS

 

The Naaman Forest Rangers (0-3) were defeated by Northwest Eaton High School by a final score of 13-6 Friday, Sept. 14 at Northwest ISD Stadium. The game was shortened by a lightning delay. Jourdan Boze scored the NFHS touchdown on a 23-yard run.

Mustangs defeated by Plano East HS

 

The Sachse Mustangs (0-3) were defeated 29-7 by Plano East High School Friday, Sept. 14 at Garland’s Williams Stadium. The Mustangs’ TD came in the first quarter on a 52-yard pass by quarterback Xavier Forman to Myles Nash.

 

Owls lose to Richardson HS

 

The Garland Owls (0-3) were defeated by a score of 21-19 by Richardson High School at Richardson’s Eagle Stadium. Lanre Akande scored all three of the Owls’ TDs. The first was on 5-yard run in the first quarter, then a 3-yard run in the second and then a 1-yard run in the fourth. GHS tried to tie it up in the fourth with a 2-point conversion but failed.

 

Devonte Thompson carried the ball 16 times for 101 yards.
