Week 2: HS football

Week two, which was the last week of non-district football play, ended in wins for the Garland Owls, North Garland Raiders and Lakeview Centennial Patriots.

Garland HS 23 – Birdville HS 13

GHS quarterback Jayden Norwood got two TDs on the ground and one on a 34-yard pass to Keylon Davis. Keyuntae King carried the ball 28 times for 129 yards and Norwood had 12 carries for 91 yards. The Owls also added a 40-yard field goal.

North Garland HS 49 – Corsicana HS 42

The Raiders collected 461 yards, 324 rushing, and quarterback Godspower Kwawulhe threw for 137 yards, and he ended the game at 11-15.  Godspower also ran the ball 13 times for 118 yards and three TDs. Jaden Davis had 201 rushing yards with four TDs.

Lakeview Centennial HS 10 – Skyline HS 9

The Patriots blocked Skyline’s field goal attempt at the end of the game to hold on for the win. Quarterback Jonathan Hester ended the night at 10-16 for 135 yards and one score. Caylon Montgomery caught one of Hester’s throws for a TD. The Patiots also had a 22-yard field goal that gave them the lead late in the game.

Irving HS 33 – South Garland HS 21

SGHS quarterback Mirko Martos completed 10 of 24 attempts for 137 yards and one TD pass to Jaden Holland. Martos also rushed for two scores and carried the ball 18 times for 123 yards.

North Forney HS 43 – Rowlett HS 20

The Eagles’ quarterback Harris Boyd was 14-34 for 176 yards on the night. He threw one TD pass to Cordell Lee. Boyd also scored a rushing TD. Devonta Crow carried the ball 24 times for 166 yards and one score.

Plano East HS 47 – Naaman Forest HS 40

NFHS quarterback Deangelo Perales threw for 339 yards and six touchdowns in this close battle with Plano East HS. Jason Flores caught four of the passes for 140 yards and two scores. Dominique Hall had one catch for 10 yards and a TD. Haden Denton caught two of Perales’ throws for TDs.

Prosper HS 51 – Sachse HS 14

The Mustangs’ played three quarterbacks – Victor Jesus Gutierrez, Brenden George and Grayson King. Gutierrez was 3-7 with 84 yards and a TD. George was 5-11 for 48 yards and a TD. Kaliq Lockett had three catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. Robbie Rothrock had two receptions for 52 yards and a score. SHS coaches named Camden George as the defensive MVP for this week and recognized Kyler Lacy for defensive skill. Sean Davault was also recognized for special teams.
