Week 5: High school football scores, standings

Week 5 of the high school football season is in the books. The game results for District 9-6A, which includes the Garland and Wylie high schools, are below. The district standings are also below.

Lakeview Centennial Patriots 48 – South Garland Titans 10

Lakeview Centennial High School (3-2, 1-2) got a big win over South Garland High School (2-3, 0-3) Thursday, Sept. 21. The Patriots’ quarterback, Kendrick Sanders, was 11-18 with 210 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders also scored a rushing TD. Quarterback Coleman Hedgecock also threw for a TD. Trenton Harris, who had four catches for 117 yards scored two of the TDs. Johnathan Whittle caught two passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Malikai Boyd scored a rushing TD, and Kenyon White scored two.

The Titans’ QB Jaden Holland threw for 147 yards and scored on a 5-yard run.

Wylie Pirates 35 – North Garland Raiders 25

The Wylie Pirates (3-1, 2-1) defeated the North Garland Raiders (1-3, 0-2) at Williams Stadium Friday, Sept. 22. Jagger Bale, Wylie’s quarterback, completed 15 of 35 pass attempts for 299 yards and three TDs. Martaveion Sanders caught six for 111 yards and a touchdown. Jackson Draper caught four for 96 yards and a score and Alejandro Morales caught a 67-yard TD pass. Josh Ausborne carried the ball five times for 56 yards and a TD.

The Raiders quarterback, Christian Hampton threw for 186 yards and two TDs. Mateo Howard caught eight for 106 yards and a TD. JaChristian Eason also caught a touchdown pass. The Raiders’ defense also added a touchdown when Steven Law returned an interception for a score.

Sachse Mustangs 20 – Wylie East Raiders 7

Sachse High School (3-2, 3-0) defeated Wylie East HS (3-1, 1-1) Friday, Sept. 22, at Wylie ISD Stadium. Sachse’s QB Brenden George was 9-13 with 212 yards and TD passes to Kaliq Lockett and Kendrick Hanks. Josh Ridge added a rushing touchdown. Brendon Haygood carried the ball 13 times for 86 years. Lockett had four receptions for 133 yards. SHS coaches named Kaliq Lockett Offensive MVP and Sean Devault Defensive MVP. Aiden Sharp on special teams was also recognized.

Wylie East’s lone score came on a pass from Howard Fisher IV to Luis Ainsworth. Fisher was 12-15 on the night with 146 yards.

Garland Owls 33 – Rowlett Eagles 6

The Garland Owls (3-0, 4-1) defeated the Rowlett Eagles (1-2, 1-4) at Homer B. Johnson Stadium Friday, Sept. 22. The Owls’ QB was 14-18 and 171 yards and a touchdown caught by Jayden Norwood. De’Adrian scored twice on rushes and carried the ball 19 times for 148 yards.

Ger’Myius Benson carried the ball 13 times for 92 yards and one TD for the Eagles.
