Week 5 recap: GISD high school football

The Rowlett Eagles remain undefeated through week five of the high school football season with a win over the North Garland Raiders.

 

Mustangs get win over Rangers

 

The Sachse Mustangs (2-3, 2-0) got a 23-6 win over the Naaman Forest Rangers (0-5, 0-2) Thursday, Sept. 27 at Garland’s Williams Stadium.

 

K.J. Williams scored first for SHS on a short run then special teams got into the action when Torey Washington returned the second half kickoff 85 yards for a TD. The defense scored a safety for the Mustangs at the end of the third quarter. The last TD was on an 11-yard run by Myles Nash.

 

The Rangers scored with less than a minute left in the game when Kieran Write caught a 19-yard pass from Palmer Cooper.

 

Eagles defeat Raiders

 

The Rowlett Eagles (4-0, 2-0) defeated the North Garland Raiders (4-1, 1-1) 33-13 Friday, Sept. 28 at Williams Stadium. Luis Reyna hit four field goals, 35-, 26-, 21- and 22-yards for the Eagles.

 

Antonio Hull and Chauncey Amos added Eagle TDs on 25- and 20-yard passes from Chase Toupal. Josh Expo also got scored on a 2-yard run. Toupal was 12-29 with 202 yards. Jerry Evans caught seven Toupal passes for 106 yards.

 

Both Raider touchdowns came on runs by Uzochukwu Ebinama.

 

Wylie Pirates get win over Garland Owls

 

Wylie HS (1-4, 1-1) defeated the Garland Owls (1-4, 1-1) by a final score of 50-7 Friday, Sept. 28 at Wylie ISD Stadium. The Owls’ score was on a short run by Jason Washington set up by a 49-yard pass from Washington to Alonzo Fennel.

 

Rashad Dixon, the Pirates’ quarterback had an impressive night, scoring five TDs. Three were on runs, 14- 11- and 33-yards and two were in the air. The first was a 46-yarder to Donovan Ollie and the other was a 43-yard pass to Kyjuan Cole. Dixon ended the game at 9-10 with 177 passing yards on the game.

 

Lakeview Centennial defeats South Garland

 

The Lakeview Centennial Patriots (3-1, 1-1) got a 48-14 win over the South Garland Colonels (2-3, 0-2) Friday, Sept. 28 at Garland’s Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

 

Jaquarion Turner scored for the Colonels in the second quarter on a 59-yard run and Kevonta Wilson scored for SGHS on a 9-yard run.

 

Isaiah Haro scored twice for the Patriots on 21- and 20-yard passes from quarterback Aidon Gary. Zikamein West also scored on a 44-yard Gary pass. Camar Wheaton also got two TDs for the Patriots on 55- and 3-yard runs. Niyon Wilson added to the Patriots’ total with a 2-yard TD run.

 

The defense joined in the scoring with an interception return in the first quarter.

 

Gary finished the night at 7-12 with 128 yards. Wheaton carried the ball 10 times for 158 yards.
