Week 5: High school football

Week five of the high school football season is now in the books. The Lakeview Centennial Patriots and Garland Owls each added wins to their records.

Lakeview Centennial Patriots 62 – South Garland Titans 0

Lakeview Centennial HS (3-2, 2-1) scored 62 points in a victory against South Garland HS (1-4, 0-3). The Patriots’ offense put together 423 offensive yards, 204 in the air and 219 on the ground. QB Jonathan Hester ended the game at 8-14 with 105 yards. He also scored a rushing TD for the

Patriots. Savion Hunter, Ahmari Graham, Kendrick Sanders, Derrick Brown and Shawn Lawson also scored rushing touchdowns and Jack Dustin scored twice on runs. Sanders also completed a pass to Julius Spencer for a score. Spencer caught nine throws for 138 yards.

Garland Owls 19 – Rowlett Eagles 0

The Garland Owls (4-1, 3-0) got two TDs, a 33-yard field goal and a safety in the 19-0 victory against the Rowlett Eagles (0-5, 0-3). GHS put together 312 rushing yards, and Keyuntae King was responsible for 264 of those. He also scored both of the Owls’ touchdowns.

Eagles’ QB Andrew Ellison ended the game at 9-24 with 67 yards.

 

Wylie East HS 45 – Sachse Mustangs 17

The Sachse Mustangs (1-4, 1-2) lost to Wylie East HS (4-0, 2-0) Friday, Sept. 23 at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. SHS quarterback Brenden George was 12-21 on the night with 101 yards and one touchdown. Kaliq Lockett caught the TD pass. Grayson King scored a rushing TD for the Mustangs. SHS also scored a 38-yard field goal.

Wylie Pirates 28 – North Garland Raiders 24

North Garland HS (2-3, 1-2) lost in a close contest with Wylie HS Friday Sept. 23 at Wylie ISD Stadium. The Raiders’ scoring began with a fumble return for a TD in the second quarter. Quarterback Godspower Nwawulhe, who ended the game at 10-21 with 177 yards, threw for two touchdowns. Mateo Howard and Javius Green each caught a TD pass. Nwawulhe also scored a rushing TD and collected 93 yards on the ground.
