Week 8: HS varsity football

The results of week eight of the high school football season are below. All the games were heavy on offense and ended with high scores.

Rowlett Eagles 56 – North Garland Raiders 43

The Eagles and Raiders played Thursday, Oct. 12, at Williams Stadium. The Rowlett Eagles (3-5, 3-3) had a high-scoring night. QB Andrew Ellison ended the game at 13-19 for 242 yards and three scores. Cordell Lee caught nine passes for 195 yards and three TDs. Quarterback River Kirkhuff was 5-12 on the night and threw one TD pass to Jalen Thomas. Ger’Myius Benson and Adrian Lacy made rushing touchdowns.

Joseph Brocks also added to the point total on a returned kickoff.

North Garland Raiders’ (2-5, 2-3) quarterback Christian Hampton ended the game at 16-25 with 227 yards and four TDs. Ashton Minor and Kameron Shaw  caught TD passes, and JaChristian Eason caught two. Trent Hill had 23 carries for 150 rushing yards and a TD. Mateo Howard also scored a rushing TD.

Naaman Forest Rangers 39 – South Garland Titans 34

The Rangers and Titans had a close match Friday, Oct. 13, at HBJ Stadium.

The Naaman Forest Rangers (1-4, 1-6) got three TDs on passes by quarterback Deangelo Perales who ended the game at 20-28 with 257 yards. Chance Ables had 10 catches for 150 yards and two scores. Jordan Johnson also caught a Perales pass for a touchdown. Perales and Ivan Garcia both scored rushing TDs.

The South Garland Titans (0-6, 2-6) QB Ramon Franco was 10-15 on the game for 125 yards and a TD. Franco also rushed for 186 yards and two scores. Rodrigo carried the ball 17 times for 118 yards and three scores.

Sachse Mustangs 57 – Garland Owls 24

The Sachse Mustangs (5-2, 5-0) trailed the Garland Owls (5-3, 4-2) until the last minute of the first half, but Sachse controlled the game throughout the second half. SHS quarterback Brenden George completed 16 of 32 pass attempts for 200 yards and one TD. Santana Quinn caught the TD pass. He also rushed for 52 yards and four TDs. Brendon Haygood had 14 carries for 145 yards and a score. Keandrae Little and Kendrick Hanks also rushed for scores. The SHS coaches’ pick for

Offensive MVP is Brenden George, and their pick for Defensive MVP is Sean Davault.

The Owls’ quarterback Orlando Routt passed for 134 yards, and De’Adrian Hardy rushed for 97 yards and scored two TDs. Terrence Green took advantage of a special teams mistake and returned an SHS punt 33 yards for a score. GHS also added a field goal.

Wylie East Raiders 66 – Wylie Pirates 10

The Wylie East Raiders (4-1, 6-1) held the Wylie Pirates’ offense (4-1, 5-2) to only 10 points. The Raiders put together 510 yards of total offense compared to the Pirates’ 99 yards. WEHS got 23 first downs and WHS was held to seven.
