Week two of the high school football season is now in the books. The Garland Owls, North Garland Raiders, Lakeview Centennial Patriots and Sachse Mustangs got wins this week. For the second consecutive week, the Naaman Forest Rangers game was canceled.
GHS Owls 55 – Richardson HS 3
The Owls gained 350 yards in the air and 143 on the ground. Quarterback Cergio Perez was 23-30 with 350 yards on the game. He threw for six TDs connecting with Jordan Hudson three times. One of those receptions was a 99-yard TD. Ellis Rogers, Jayshon Powers and Aaron King also caught TD passes. Powers also got a rushing TD. Keyunte King also ran for a score.
South Garland Titans 14 – Princeton HS 71
Titans’ QB Jimmy Shelly ended the game at 8-19 with 139 yards and completed a TD pass to Tyreon Key. Key caught 8 passes for 139 yards on the night. Malik Price also scored for SGHS and collected 119 yards on 22 carries.
NGHS Raiders 34 – Irving HS 7
Godspower Nwawuihe, North Garland’s quarterback, ended the night at 10-18 for 88 yards and one touchdown pass to De’Aundre Johnson. Nwawuihe also scored a rushing TD for the Raiders. Jaden Davis also ran for a score. The Raiders’ defense got two scores on interception returns by Mateo Howard and Semegnhe Dee.
LCHS Patriots 47 – Irving MacArthur HS 28
LCHS quarterback Johnathan Hester ended the night at 9-19 with 120 yards. He threw one TD pass to Jack Nolan. Zechariah Dunston scored four touchdowns for the Patriots. The Patriot defense and special teams each added scores as well.
RHS Eagles 7 – Plano HS 60
Devonta Crow scored for the Eagles on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
SHS Mustangs 64 – Red Oak HS 42
The Mustangs gained 703 total yards – 270 in the air and 433 on the ground. QB Alex Orji ended the night at 14-23 with 270 yards and three touchdowns. He connected with Jhett Creel and Austin Phillips and Drew Nickerson for the scores. Orji also ran for three TDs and collected 161 rushing yards. Luke Keefer also ran for three touchdowns and carried the ball 17 times for 201 yards on the night. Mustangs’ coaches named the Offensive Team as MVP on offense and Albion Krasniqi defensive MVP.
