What’s North Texas Giving Day? What are Garland charities doing about it?

Aug. 31, 2023

North Texas Giving Day early giving begins Friday, Sept. 1, and our local nonprofits want to raise awareness of their involvement. Lifetime Garland resident, Jeff Range, saw an opportunity this year to share the missions of six of Garland’s major charities. He felt that understanding more about what the charities do would help them raise more much-needed funds.

“North Texas Giving Day represents a major fundraising event for each of these nonprofits,” Range said. “Since giving is down across the nation, I thought that people might give more freely, wherever their hearts led them, if their money is going specifically to local charities and local needs. I know that drives me – And that starts with awareness.”giving

You may see posters and other printed material around town at restaurants, stores and other businesses. Let those serve as a reminder that the nonprofits depend on these donations to help others in the community. The posters explain the missions of these organizations. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with each organization’s mission while you think about giving.

Keep in mind that when you give to local nonprofits, local people benefit.
