In the wake of recent winter storms, the city of Garland, FEMA and other agencies offer recovery resources and other assistance.

FEMA Assistance – Garland individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the winter storm can now apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585 TTY. Don’t fall prey to misinformation. Check out these FEMA facts. Your application must be submitted by April 21, 2021.
City of Garland Programs are available to assist income-eligible homeowners in Garland with emergency home repairs such as frozen pipes, HVAC repairs, and electrical repairs. Please see the income limits table below and if your household falls within those income limits, call 972-205-2130 to obtain information to apply.
Income levels are as follows:
1 Person – $48,300
2 People – $55,200
3 People – $62,100
4 People – $68,950
5 People – $74,500
6 People – $80,000
7 People – $85,500
8 People – $91,050
The Garland Building Inspection Department is waiving permit fees for work related to winter storm repairs. The department’s webpage contains a list of current plumbing contractors and other resources property owners might need.

The Texas Workforce Commission is accepting applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance through March 26 for Texans who lost their jobs, along with self-employed individuals who have been unable to work. twc.texas.gov or 800-558-8321.
