What do you get when you combine the talents of two unbelievably creative, fun-loving women into one shop? One of the most beautiful and fun to visit businesses in downtown Garland. The shop is at 510 Main Street.
The Wiseman Collection and The Frocksy recently joined forces to offer an extensive variety of products. Karin Wiseman sells her handmade jewelry in addition to other locally-made, one-of-a-kind gift items, home décor, hospitality items, candles, vintage pieces and more. Her shop also offers a selection of men’s grooming products including beard oils, shave soaps and body soaps.
Wiseman became a downtown fixture several years ago when she began working at one of the area shops where she sold her collection of handmade jewelry and was instrumental in planning the Urban Flea. She then opened her independent shop a few blocks west on Main. But when she had the opportunity to move her business to the square, she couldn’t resist.
“I’ve always wanted to be right on the square,” she said. “Right in the middle of things.”
Wiseman has offered art classes for the community in her previous shops and will continue to do so. She will also continue to offer a wide variety of items and add new items often. One of her goals is for customers to always see something they didn’t see on their last visit.
Trayc Claybrook, owner of The Frocksy started out with a store in Deep Ellum in 2012. She has an extensive background in art and design, having taught design at the Art Institute. Claybrook also taught design at Richland along with private art lessons. She has also used her creativity to do window displays at J. Crew and at The Frocksy.
Claybrook and her former Frocksy partner wanted to be in a historic, up and coming area which is what led to them opening the shop in downtown Garland. They wanted a neighborhood environment that had some meaning behind it. The location has proved to be good for Frocksy.
Claybrook’s shop offers a variety of merchandise including vintage and current clothing from a very affordable price point to more expensive designer clothing. There is a variety of styles and sizes. There is also a large selection of accessories including jewelry, handbags, sunglasses, hats scarves and more.
Wiseman and Claybrook want their shop to be a place where community members gather to have a cup of coffee and visit. They hope that visitors will feel comfortable and see their shop as a home away from home.
Hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
